The Experience
There's something about stepping onto a boat that feels like permission to stop thinking about the rest of the week. The FILIPPOS, a 2021 Lagoon 46 catamaran, leaves from Paros and heads straight for the Blue Lagoon between Paros and Antiparos — that turquoise pocket of water you've probably seen in photos but didn't know was real. The boat is 14 meters long, stable enough that you won't feel it moving, and the day is built around water: swimming first, then snorkeling, then more swimming. If you want to paddle out on a kayak or SUP instead of jumping in, those are there too.
The stops come in a rhythm that makes sense. After the Blue Lagoon, you anchor at Faneromeni, a bay with white-washed rocks that look like they've been arranged by hand, and that's where the BBQ lunch happens — souvlakia, oven-baked chickpeas, Greek salad, aubergine, fresh fruit. Then the sea cave at Tripiti, where the water inside is so clear you can see the sand fifteen feet down, and you can either swim or snorkel depending on what you want that hour. Farangas Beach on the south coast of Paros comes next, a series of small sandy pockets separated by rocks, and then Simadoura, where the coastline gets dramatic — rock formations and small caves carved into the cliffs. You're not rushing between stops; the catamaran cruise is designed so you spend real time in the water at each place, not just floating past.
What makes this different from a speedboat day trip is the boat itself. A Lagoon catamaran is wide and stable — you're not gripping the rail or feeling thrown around. The crew knows the spots well enough that they're not reading from a script, and groups stay small enough that you're not standing in a queue to get in the water. If you've never snorkeled before, the cave at Tripiti is forgiving; if you're comfortable in the water, you can explore further. The day includes everything except your own towel and sunscreen.
