The experience
The Temple of Demeter sits 1.5 km south of Ano Sangri, built entirely from marble quarried on the island around 430 BC and standing as one of the first Ionic temples in Greece. Your guide will walk you through the site before the group moves on to Chalki, a village built around the Vallindras Citrus Distillery, where you'll taste the island's famed local citrus products and explore the narrow alleys on foot.
Kaloxylos lies just next to Chalki and houses a recently renovated olive press museum. The tour includes a full tasting experience there, letting you sample oils and understand how the village has pressed olives for generations. The final stop is Apiranthos, an old village where marble paves the alleys and traditional stone architecture lines every street: the kind of place where the building materials and the landscape feel like one thing.
Hotel pickup and drop-off bracket the morning or afternoon, and the vehicle is air-conditioned. Bottled water is provided throughout. Note that the Temple of Demeter closes on Tuesdays, so plan your booking accordingly if that day matters to your schedule.
