Step-by-step itinerary

Boat tour to Kleftiko and Gerakas

  • Depart from Agia Kiriaki beach
  • Enjoy complimentary drinks and appetizers
  • Visit Kleftiko Beach and explore caves
  • Swim in crystal-clear waters at Kleftiko
  • Stop at Gerakas Beach for swimming
  • Return to departure point

The Experience

The boat leaves Agia Kiriaki in the early morning, heading south toward Kleftiko. You're handed a cold frappe or tea as soon as you settle in, along with water and a plate of homemade appetizers — the kind of thing that makes the ride feel less like transport and more like the trip has already started. The crew knows the route by heart, and they move through it without fuss. Kleftiko isn't reachable by road; the only way in is by water, which is exactly why it stays the way it is — white volcanic rock carved into arches and caves, the water underneath so clear you see the seabed from the boat.

Once you're there, snorkeling gear is yours to use. You can jump in near the rock formations, swim into the shallow caves, or just float and look up at the cliffs. The water temperature in summer sits around 24–26°C, warm enough that you don't need a wetsuit, though some people bring one anyway. The second stop is Gerakas bay, on the same southern coast, another boat-only beach with the same kind of clarity. Between the two stops, the crew passes around local raki — not a lot, just enough to taste it — and more snacks. The whole thing runs about four to five hours from start to finish, which means you're back by early afternoon with the rest of your day open.

Two departures run daily, so you can pick the morning or afternoon slot depending on your schedule. The boat takes mixed groups, usually under twenty people, which keeps it feeling intimate rather than crowded. If you need a transfer from your hotel to Agia Kiriaki, that's available but costs extra and has to be arranged in advance — worth asking about when you book if you don't have a rental car.

What’s included

Snorkeling equipment, iced frappe or tea, water, local raki, and homemade appetizers are included in the tour price. The boat departs from Agia Kiriaki beach on the southern coast of Milos.

Is this one for you?A good fit if you want to see Kleftiko without arranging your own boat or navigating the southern coast alone — the fixed schedule and included snorkeling gear mean you show up and swim. Plan for a half-day out of your schedule, which is what leaves you time to explore other parts of Milos in the afternoon.
