Paddle to six untouched islands and anchor at a beach with a lagoon

Sea kayaking excursion from Uranopolis to the Drenia Islands, a cluster of six islets two miles offshore in Halkidiki. You paddle a sit-on-top kayak with a BCU-certified guide, make a first stop to explore, then reach the main beach where you swim and rest before paddling back. Hotel pickup and all equipment are included. The trip runs five to six hours.

The experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel in a minivan, then a short equipment briefing at the launch point. You'll get a kayaking lesson covering paddle technique and safety before the group pushes off toward the islands. The crossing takes you across open water to Drenia, the largest island, where you make your first stop to explore the coastline. From there the route continues around the cluster, passing smaller islets like Tiganaki, Pena, Fryni and Gaidouronisi: each one rocky and undeveloped, with hidden beaches and a small lagoon formed by protective rocks.

The main beach has two beach bars where the group stops for the longest stretch of the day. You can swim in the shallow water, drink coffee, eat the included Greek salad and snacks, and rest before the return paddle. A BCU Coach guides the whole trip and adjusts the pace and route based on how the group is moving and what conditions allow. Water, fruit, energy cookies, juice and homemade Greek salad are provided. First aid and liability insurance are included, and emergency assistance is on standby.

Children over ten can join if they have moderate fitness. The kayak, life jacket, dry bag and hat (if needed) are all supplied. If you don't have your own travel and health insurance, you can add it at checkout: recommended for water activities.

If you want a full-day immersion with no other plans, this fits that too: the guide adjusts the pace and stops based on the group's energy.
