The experience

The tour picks you up from the port terminal and heads straight to Paleokastritsa, the island's most famous beach. The water is emerald and the coves are small. Olive groves run down to the shoreline. You get time to swim and sunbathe, or pay 15 euros cash on board for a small boat ride into the sea caves. Lakones sits on the ridge above, also called the Gods' Balcony, and the view down into the bay is the reason people stop there. Bougainvilleas, lemon trees and olive groves frame the heart-shaped water below, and lunch is optional if you want to eat in the village.

After that, the route takes you to the Vlacherna Monastery, built on a small islet near Pontikonissi Island: one of the most photographed views in Greece. The day ends in Corfu's Old Town, where the palaces, narrow alleys, castles and taverns give you time to walk and pick up souvenirs before heading back.
