The Experience

Paleokastritsa arrives first. The drive takes you through Corfiot countryside past cypresses and olive trees to a coastline of rocky coves and emerald water—the beach is narrow and backed by steep cliffs, with a Byzantine monastery perched on the hillside above. You can swim in the clear water, explore the coves on foot, or book a separate boat trip to the blue caves (15 euros per person). The monastery offers views across the bay if you want to climb up instead.

From there you head to Glyfada, a wider, more organized beach with golden sand, sunbeds and umbrellas available to rent, and a beach bar serving drinks and food. The water is calm and clear. You have time to swim, lie on a sunbed, try water sports if you want them—jet-skiing, water-skiing, banana rides and pedalos are all on offer—or simply sit under the trees that line the cliff edge. The whole day is paced so you're not rushed between the two; the drive itself is part of the experience, moving through the island's interior.

Your driver handles the transport in a modern, air-conditioned vehicle, and pickup happens at your hotel or the cruise port depending on where you're staying. The return journey follows the same route back, giving you time to settle in after the beach. A small amount of walking connects the vehicle drop-off to the Glyfada shoreline, but nothing strenuous.
