The experience
The tour moves through Corfu's most photographed landmarks, starting at Kanoni where the Pontikonisi, Mouse Island, sits in the Halikiopoulos lagoon alongside the 17th-century Panagia Vlacherna monastery, a small church with a two-storey bell tower that appears to float on its footbridge. From there you reach the Kaiser's Observatory, a private viewpoint left by Emperor Wilhelm II in 1914, positioned to frame the island's oil-rich landscape and coastline. The route then turns west toward Paleokastritsa, where the real separation happens: a small boat takes you along the central west coast through rock formations and into the sea caves themselves. Something the size of the vessel makes possible.
At Paleokastritsa you also visit the Monastery, a single-aisled basilica with Byzantine and post-Byzantine frescoes and a museum that holds a 19th-century whale skeleton. Lakones village sits on a cliff edge above, and the view from there (green olives and pines meeting endless blue sea) is the one most visitors photograph. An olive oil press in a working grove introduces you to the Corfiot olive variety. The owners walk you through the old stone-wheel presses and storage vessels, then you taste the oil with local products and learn how to read its qualities the way locals do. The day ends with a walk through Corfu's Old Town, a UNESCO site where Venetian architecture, fortresses, palaces and churches mark the meeting point of three historical powers.
The tour runs five to seven hours depending on which option you book. Coffee and tea are included throughout. Lunch comes with the full-day options. An air-conditioned vehicle handles the route, and a live English-speaking guide is part of the full-day bookings.

Is this one for you?Choose the full-day tour with guide and lunch if you want the complete route (Kanoni, Kaiser's Observatory, the boat caves, the monastery, Lakones, the olive press and the Old Town) plus a meal and expert commentary. The half-day option covers the same stops but skips the olive press and lunch, so it suits travelers with less time or those who prefer to eat on their own schedule.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 12 years); Infant (under 4): free.
What exactly is Mouse Island and why is it so famous?
Pontikonisi, Mouse Island, sits in the Halikiopoulos lagoon at Kanoni and is one of Europe's most photographed sights, so recognizable it has appeared in major Greek and foreign films for decades. The Panagia Vlacherna monastery stands beside it on a footbridge, a 17th-century church with a bell tower that seems to float on the water.
Can you actually go inside the Paleokastritsa caves, or do you just see them from the water?
The boat is small enough to enter the caves themselves, which is what makes this experience different from viewing them from a distance. One cave is named Nausicaa after the daughter of Corfu's king in Homer's mythology, and the crystal-clear turquoise water is part of what makes the setting memorable.
What is the Kaiser's Observatory and what can you see from there?
Emperor Wilhelm II bought the Achilleion Palace in 1907 and left his private observatory as a gift to the island in 1914, shortly before his death. It functions as a viewpoint positioned to frame Corfu's surrounding landscape and coastline, and it attracts visitors specifically for the vista it commands.
What happens at the olive oil press, and is the tasting included?
You visit a working olive grove where the owners explain the Corfiot olive variety and the history of olive production on the island, then walk through old stone-wheel presses and storage vessels from earlier eras. The tasting of Corfiot olive oil with local products is included, and you learn how to distinguish the oil's qualities the way locals do.
Is the Corfu Old Town walk a separate stop, or does it happen at the end of the day?
The walk through Corfu's UNESCO-listed Old Town is the final stop on the route. It covers the historic center where Venetian architecture, fortresses, palaces, museums and churches reflect the three nations whose influence shaped the island.
