The Experience

You arrive at the dive centre in Almyrida ready to try something you've never done. The instructors fit you with well-maintained gear that feels right, then walk you through a straightforward briefing — no jargon, no rush, just the essentials so you know what to expect when you enter the water. Because your group is private, the pace stays yours; the instructor watches for your comfort and confidence, not a clock.

The sheltered dive site is a natural nursery. As you descend and take your first breaths underwater, schools of glass fish move around you, octopus watch from the rocks, moray eels slip through crevices, and if the day is right, a sea turtle drifts past. The water is so clear you can see the detail of everything — the reason divers come back to Crete. Your instructor stays beside you the whole time, pointing things out and making sure you feel safe. The dive runs about 4 hours from start to finish, including the gear setup, the briefing, the time in the water and the walk back.

Everything gets documented. The instructors capture underwater photos and videos throughout the dive, and you take them home — no extra charge, no prints to order later. It's the proof that you did this, and the memory to show someone who asks what it was like.

What marine life will I actually see on the dive?

The sheltered dive site is a natural nursery where schools of glass fish, octopus, moray eels, scorpionfish and lionfish are common. Sea turtles pass through occasionally, and the visibility in the Cretan water is excellent, so you see the detail of whatever is there.

Do I need diving experience or certification to do this?

This is an introduction dive, so no prior experience or certification is required. A PADI instructor guides you through everything — the briefing covers what you need to know, and the instructor stays with you in the water the entire time.

What's included in the price?

All scuba equipment, full diving insurance, the PADI instructor, underwater photos and videos, and the dive itself at the protected site are included. You don't pay separately for any of it.

How long does the whole experience take?

The experience runs about 4 hours from arrival at the dive centre to the end of the dive, including gear setup, briefing, time underwater and return to the centre.
