The experience
You start at a meeting point where the jeeps are waiting. After a short briefing on the route and driving rules, the tour leaves at 9am and heads to Malaki village in the Rethymnon area for a coffee break forty minutes in. There you taste local delicacies and meet Cretan hospitality in a traditional setting.
The drive then takes you to Kotsifou Canyon on the southern side of western Crete. The gorge is known for the high number of Cretan endemic plant species that grow there, and you spend time admiring the pure nature before heading down to Plakias beach to relax. A buffet meal at a local tavern is included, so you eat without arranging a separate restaurant stop.
The final stop is Argiroupoli village, where you visit the springs and the Roman remains of Lappa. A last coffee break happens here before the route retraces back to your hotel. The whole day runs eight hours from start to return.
