The experience

Eight hours in a private vehicle means you move through Athens without waiting for a group to assemble or reassemble. Your driver picks you up from your hotel or the cruise port and builds the day around the sites themselves. The Acropolis first, where you'll see the Parthenon, Propylea, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion and Theatre of Dionysus from the outside; then the Temple of Olympian Zeus with its sixteen surviving columns; the Ancient Agora, the political and commercial heart of classical Athens; Hadrian's Arch marking the boundary between old and new city; and Lycabettus Hill for the panoramic view across the Acropolis, the stadium and the Aegean beyond. The driver speaks fluent English and narrates as you travel, but cannot enter the archaeological sites. That's the constraint that keeps the vehicle moving and the day efficient. If you want a licensed guide to walk you through the Acropolis or Agora interiors, that's available at an additional cost and subject to availability. Arrange it when you book. The skip-the-line ticket service means your driver handles the entrance queues in advance, so you arrive ready to walk. Bottled water is included. Food and drinks beyond that are on you, though Monastiraki (the flea market district with tavernas and cafes) is a natural stop if the itinerary allows.

What exactly do I see at the Acropolis on this tour?

The Acropolis visit includes the Parthenon (dedicated to Athena), the Propylea entrance, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion with its famous Caryatides statues, the Odeum of Herodus Atticus, the Theatre of Dionysus (the first theatre in the world) and the Areopagus. Your driver shows you these from outside. If you want to enter and walk among them with a guide, that's an optional add-on at checkout.
