A home cooking class in Osu led by an experienced guide in English, where you learn to prepare local and continental meals from scratch. The class runs 3 to 6 hours depending on group size; you can optionally visit the market first to select ingredients, and children from age 15 are welcome. The Experience
The class starts near Oxford Street in Osu, and you have the option to go to the market beforehand to pick out the ingredients you'll cook with—that way you know exactly what's going into each dish. Once you're in the kitchen, the guide walks you through making soup (your choice of chicken, meat, goat, pork or fish) served with fufu, banku, or rice balls; jollof rice paired with kelewele and shito; and pan-fried cinnamon bananas. You're doing the cooking, not watching a demonstration.
The whole session takes between 3 and 6 hours depending on how many people are in the class. A live guide in English leads you through each step, so you understand the technique and the reasoning behind it—this is meant to be educational, not just a meal prep. By the end you've made a full spread of dishes that represent both local Ghanaian cooking and continental styles.
