The day starts with a train ride from Berlin to Potsdam—no driving, no parking worry. Sanssouci Palace appears first, where Frederick the Great held court, and the guide walks you through its history from the outside. Then you ride through the palace gardens and the windmill grounds, which gives you a sense of the scale of what these Prussian rulers built.

Cecilienhof Palace—the Marble Palace where Truman, Stalin and Churchill concluded the Potsdam Agreement in 1945—sits on the route, and so does the Glienicke Bridge, the infamous "Bridge of Spies" where Rudolf Abel and Gary Powers were exchanged in 1962. You also ride past the Berlin Wall as it stood in Potsdam and see what used to be the Death Strip.
