The experience
You arrive at GASTRO in the heart of Kutaisi and step into a real Imeretian wine cellar, the kind of space where the food tastes like it belongs. Your instructor, Ana, sets you up at your own workspace with a branded apron and walks you through making khachapuri (the cheese bread that defines Georgian tables), and a traditional salad of cucumber, tomato, onion, herbs and walnuts. You handle the dough, the filling, the cooking. She guides you through the steps and the reasoning behind them. This is not a demonstration you watch from a stool.
When everything is done, you sit down together in that same cellar and eat the meal you made. Coffee or tea comes with it. The whole thing takes two hours, which is long enough to move past the awkwardness of a class and short enough to fit into an afternoon if you've landed in Kutaisi with a free block of time or you're passing through and want to taste something real before you leave.
