Snorkeling Tahiti: wrecks and tropical fish in a small group
Three wrecks and a plane waiting in the lagoon
Small-group snorkeling in Tahiti at a wreck site called The Aquarium, with a maximum of five people per departure. You cruise ten minutes from Marina Taina into the lagoon, snorkel for around 70 minutes among three wrecks (one plane and two boats) and tropical fish, then return to the marina. Your guide speaks English or French and provides all snorkeling equipment and underwater photos by email.
The Experience
The boat leaves Marina Taina and reaches the snorkeling site in ten minutes—close enough that the whole outing fits into an afternoon without the long crossing some Tahiti operators require. The spot itself, called The Aquarium, holds three wrecks (a plane and two boats) sitting in the lagoon where tropical fish school around them. You'll snorkel for around 70 minutes with the group, moving at the pace the guide sets, then cruise back to the marina.
The group stays at five people maximum, which is the operator's deliberate choice to keep the experience unhurried and the water uncrowded. Your guide speaks English or French and stays in the water with you. All snorkeling equipment is provided, and the operator photographs the outing underwater—those images arrive by email at the end of the day, so you leave without worrying about your own camera or phone.
The activity runs in rain or sun; the boat has a sun canopy, but bring a bathing suit, sun protection and spare clothes. Infants must sit on an adult's lap during the boat ride. The lagoon entry is straightforward, and the activity suits all fitness levels, though it is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or pregnancy.
What’s included
- All snorkeling equipment.
- underwater photographs taken during the activity and sent by email.
- a guide speaking English or French who stays with the group in the water.
Operated by Captain Benoit
Is this one for you?The five-person maximum means you're snorkeling with a small group instead of a crowded boat, which keeps the water uncrowded and the guide's attention distributed. The ten-minute boat ride from Marina Taina leaves most of your afternoon free, so this works if you want snorkeling without a full-day commitment.
