The experience
The MIGALOO leaves the port and sails along Tahiti's coast, passing near the airport and other landmarks while your guide tells the history and local stories of the islands. About halfway through the 3.5-hour outing, the catamaran anchors in the lagoon's turquoise water for roughly an hour: time to snorkel the seabed, swim, and taste the dishes Diana has prepared on board. The boat carries no more than 12 people, so the pace stays unhurried and the group stays small enough to feel like an outing with friends rather than a crowd.
Snorkeling happens in the lagoon's clear water during the anchored stop. You bring your own equipment or ask the operator about rentals when you book. Diana's homemade pastries, local fruits, and savory snacks come out while you're drying off, along with soft drinks, flavored water, still water and sparkling water. The catamaran has three electric toilets on board. The return to port is unhurried, giving you time to settle in as the day winds down.
