The experience
The day starts with three land-based cultural stops that frame what makes Taha'a distinct. A family pearl farm walks you through the entire cultivation process (grafting, grading, harvest), so you understand why Tahitian pearls carry their reputation. The vanilla plantation comes next, where you see how the island's signature crop grows from vine to pollinated flower, then follow the manual drying and maturation that gives Taha'a vanilla its intensity. At Mana'o Rumerie, an artisan distillery, you learn how local sugar cane becomes rum, with a tasting of different cuvées depending on conditions that day. These three stops build context for the lagoon itself.
The snorkeling happens in two distinct sites. The first is a shallow blacktip shark zone where you enter the water supervised and watch these animals move through their natural habitat without contact or feeding. The visibility is excellent and the experience sits between discovery and respect for the environment. The second is the Taha'a Coral Garden, a preserved site where colorful corals form a natural aquarium in clear, shallow water. Tropical fish move through it peacefully and the site suits both beginners and experienced snorkelers. Between the two water stops, you break on Motu Tuahi, a motu in the heart of the lagoon, where a Polynesian buffet of traditional dishes is served in the shade with your feet in the sand. After lunch, free time lets you swim again, relax on the beach or simply sit in the lagoon atmosphere.
Snorkel equipment is provided throughout, and bottled water plus refreshments stay available on board all day. The group tour runs at a measured pace, designed to let you absorb both the cultural and natural sides of the island without rushing. A live guide in English or French narrates the stops and manages the water entries.

Is this one for you?The day moves between water and land at a relaxed pace, so you're not snorkeling continuously: cultural stops and a long lunch break frame the two lagoon dives. This rhythm suits anyone who wants to see Taha'a's full story, not just the reef, and who prefers a measured day over back-to-back diving.
