- Walk through Gallery of Mirrors
- Optional guided garden visit
- Optional self-guided garden exploration
- Visit Coach Gallery at leisure
The experience
The tour starts with skip-the-line entry to the palace itself, which means you walk past the queues at the door. Your guide leads a small group of no more than 12 people through the King's Grand Apartment, where ceiling frescoes and the Throne Room show the scale of 17th-century court life, then into the Queen's Apartment with its restored private chambers. The Gallery of Mirrors comes next: the hall where sunlight pours through arched windows and reflects off chandeliers, the room where royal events and political deals happened. You arrive 15 minutes before the start time to secure timed entry. Once the tour begins, you cannot join it later.
After the palace, the gardens are your choice. You can add a guided garden walk with your guide to see Apollo's Fountain (a tribute to the Sun King), Neptune's Fountain with its dramatic water displays, and the Basins of the Seasons where sculptures mark the year's turning. Or you can take independent access to the gardens and spend as much time as you want, including a visit to the Coach Gallery to see the elaborate carriages of past monarchs. From November to March, the gardens are under seasonal maintenance, so plan accordingly.
Large bags and backpacks are not allowed inside the palace, and food and drinks cannot come with you. The tour suits all fitness levels, though it is not suitable for people with reduced mobility. Public transportation runs near the meeting point. Bring valid identification for monument entry and security checks.

Is this one for you?Choose the palace-only option if you want to focus on the interior rooms and the Gallery of Mirrors in a single morning. Add the gardens if you want to see Apollo's Fountain and the landscaped grounds, though this extends your time and requires a second decision about whether to walk with the guide or explore independently.
