The experience
The palace tour itself runs 1.5 hours with a professional guide who walks you through the rooms where King Louis XIV moved his court and government in 1682. You'll see the Hall of Mirrors, the State apartments and the art and furnishings that reveal how the nobility actually lived. An audio headset lets you hear clearly even when the palace is crowded. The guide is available in English, Spanish, Italian or French depending on which departure time you book.
After the guided portion, you move into self-paced exploration: the Versailles Gardens spread across the grounds with the Grand Canal running through them, and the Grand Trianon palace sits on the estate's northern edge. Both are included with your admission. From April through October, entry to the Musical Show or Fountain Show is also part of your ticket. You set the rhythm here: linger at the fountains or move through quickly, depending on what interests you.
Plan for 30 minutes beyond the 1.5-hour tour for ticket collection and security checks. The meeting point is a local partner shop in Versailles. The tour departs a few minutes after your check-in time. Arriving late risks losing your timed-entry slot, and rescheduling carries a fee. On busy days, palace access can be delayed due to safety controls. Public transport reaches the meeting point, and from mid-July through August, some RER lines serving Versailles change. Check which station your route uses before you travel.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French and Italian.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (6 to 17 years); Infant (under 6): free.
What exactly happens during the 1.5-hour guided portion of the tour?
The expert guide leads you through the Palace of Versailles, focusing on the Hall of Mirrors and the State apartments while explaining the Baroque architecture and the history of King Louis XIV's court. You wear an audio headset so you can hear the commentary clearly in crowded areas.
Can I spend as much time as I want in the Gardens and at the Grand Trianon?
Yes. After the guided palace tour ends, the Gardens, Grand Canal and Grand Trianon are self-guided, so you explore them at your own pace and decide how long to spend at each spot.
Does the Musical Show or Fountain Show cost extra?
No. From April through October, tickets for the Musical Show or Fountain Show are included in your admission. Outside those months, the shows do not run.
What happens if I arrive late to the meeting point?
The meeting time on your voucher is when you check in at the partner shop. The tour departs a few minutes later. If you arrive after that window, the palace may not honor your timed-entry ticket, and rescheduling to a later tour will incur a fee.
How do I get to the meeting point from Paris?
Public transportation is available nearby. From mid-July through late August, some RER lines serving Versailles are closed for maintenance. Use RER line L (Versailles Rive Droite) or line N (Versailles Chantiers) instead of line C to reach the meeting shop.
