The experience

You visit two working châteaux in one outing: Château Tour Baladoz, where you walk through a historic cellar full of traditional winemaking methods, and Château La Croizille, where you see contemporary viticulture and modern equipment side by side. The contrast is the point. You move from one approach to the other and understand how the same terroir can be worked two ways. A guide in English walks you through both cellars and explains what you're seeing as you go.

The tasting happens at the end, three wines poured and talked through: two Saint-Emilion Grand Crus and one Bordeaux AOC. While you taste, a platter of local charcuterie and cheeses arrives, along with a glass of wine to drink with the food. You sit on a covered terrace if the weather holds, or move indoors if it doesn't. The whole thing runs 90 minutes from start to finish.
