The experience

You start with a briefing on how to handle the Segway: the operator builds in 20 to 30 minutes depending on how many people are in the group and how comfortable they are on the machine. Once you're steady, the route takes you through the 1st and 7th arrondissements, passing Vendôme Place and its column, then rolling through the Tuileries Garden. You pass the Louvre Palace and the Triumphal Arch, then head toward the Seine to cross under Pont Alexandre III.

The second half swings past the Musée d'Orsay and the National Assembly, then moves toward the Eiffel Tower, where you'll see the Chaillot Palace and Trocadéro Gardens. From there the route takes in the Palais de Tokyo (a modern art museum), the Liberty Flame and Diana memorial, the Grand Palais and Petit Palais, and finishes at Place de la Concorde. The guide rides with the group and shoots photos throughout the day, so you leave with images without stopping to take them yourself.

The tour runs either during daylight or at sunset. Pick whichever suits your schedule. A live guide leads in English or French. The Segway has a weight limit of 110 kg (242 lbs), and you'll need at least a moderate level of fitness to ride comfortably for two hours.
