The experience

The tour begins at the agency, where you meet your guide and get fitted for a helmet. After a 15-minute training session on the Promenade des Anglais, you'll ride the Segway yourself through the rest of the day. The wide seafront boulevard gives way to the narrow alleys of the Old Town, where your guide explains the history and monuments as you pass the market of Cours Saleya. From there you move into the newer, livelier district near Place Garibaldi, filled with bars and restaurants, then out to the port where yachts line the water.

The final stretch climbs Castle Hill through a green setting. The ascent takes you to a viewpoint overlooking the Baie des Anges and a waterfall. Because you're on the Segway, the ride itself becomes part of what you see. You cover ground that would take much longer on foot, but move slowly enough to take in the details your guide points out.

The tour runs 3 hours total and suits anyone 14 or older who can comfortably stand and balance on the device. Comfortable shoes are recommended, and the operator provides a raincoat if the weather turns. Public transportation stops are nearby if you need them before or after.
