Day one takes you to the UNESCO-listed abbey perched on a rocky island, where you explore the medieval monument and its cloisters at your own pace before overnight in Angers. Day two moves through château country, stopping at each castle to see their distinct histories, from Langeais's late medieval architecture to Chenonceau's span across the River Cher. A professional guide, air-conditioned coach and breakfast are included throughout.

The experience
The tour opens at Mont-Saint-Michel, where the gilded copper statue of Michael crowns the abbey above the bay. After lunch at a local restaurant, you walk up through the village to enter the abbey itself, exploring the cloister, refectory and Gothic halls that have accumulated over a thousand years. The extreme tides here shift the landscape dramatically: at low tide the island sits surrounded by bare sand for miles. At high tide, just six hours later, seawater fills the bay and isolates it completely. You have time to wander the ramparts, shop the main street and visit the island's museums before heading to your overnight hotel in Angers.
Day two moves into the Loire Valley's château country. A photo stop at Château d'Angers, founded in the 9th century and home to the Apocalypse Tapestry, opens the morning. Then comes Château de Langeais, rebuilt by King Louis XI in the 15th century after destruction in the Hundred Years' War and now one of the world's best examples of late medieval architecture. Château de Chenonceau follows, straddling the River Cher. It served as an escape route during World War II from the Nazi-occupied zone to the free zone on the opposite bank. Chambord Castle, recognizable by its famous double revolution staircase, completes the castle run before the coach returns you to Paris.
The coach is air-conditioned and the guide speaks either English or Spanish depending on your option. Breakfast is provided each morning. A 4-star hotel in Angers is included for the overnight stay, with a maximum of two people per room. Single rooms carry a 36€ supplement, and twin beds can be arranged if you request them at booking. The tour suits travelers with moderate fitness, though it is not recommended for those with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health. Children from age 3 are welcome.

Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 11 years). Children under 3 can't be included in the booking.
What exactly is inside Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey that I'll see on the tour?
Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey contains the cloister, refectory, chapels and historic halls built into the medieval monastery over a thousand years. Your entrance ticket is included and you explore at your own pace, so you can spend as long as you want in each section and take in the views of the bay from the abbey's terraces.
How much time do I actually spend at each castle on day two?
Château d'Angers is a brief photo stop. Château de Langeais and Château de Chenonceau receive proper visits where you can walk through the buildings and grounds. Chambord Castle is also included on the route. The guide will lead you through each one and explain their histories, from Langeais's late medieval rebuild to Chenonceau's role in World War II.
Is the hotel in Angers included, or do I pay extra?
The overnight accommodation in a 4-star hotel in Angers is included in the tour price. Rooms hold a maximum of two people. If you need a single room, a 36€ supplement applies at booking. Twin beds can be arranged if you request them when you reserve.
What's the difference between the guided options at checkout?
You choose between English or Spanish for your guide, and you also choose whether hotel pickup from Paris is included. All four options include the same castles, abbey, overnight hotel, coach transport and breakfast. The guide language and pickup availability are what change.
Can I see the tides change at Mont-Saint-Michel, or is the timing fixed?
The extreme tides at Mont-Saint-Michel shift the landscape every six hours, but the tour timing is set by the itinerary, so whether you witness both low and high tide depends on when the tour operates that day. You will have time to wander the village and ramparts at your leisure after the guided abbey visit, so you can observe the tidal landscape during that window.
