The experience

You arrive at the estate and start in the vineyard at the foot of the property, where the guide explains the terroir and the history of the land. The walk gives you the landscape of Chablis itself (the slopes, the soil, the exposure) before you move into the winery to see how the wines are made. The tasting follows, and you choose which wines from the five appellations you want to sample. It is a small, unhurried moment in an authentic setting, not a formal event.

The tasting includes Chablis wines across the range, from the crisp, mineral-driven expressions the region is known for to the fuller Bourgognes and the sparkling Crémants. You taste what interests you, guided through each one. The whole activity runs 90 minutes, leaving the rest of your afternoon or evening free depending on which session you choose: 9:30 a.m. or 2:00 p.m., both available in English.

What is the terroir of Chablis, and why does it matter to the wine?

Chablis terroir (the combination of soil, slope and climate) shapes the mineral character the wines are known for. The guide explains this directly during the vineyard walk at the foot of the estate, showing you the land itself before you taste.

Can I choose which wines to taste, or is there a set flight?

You choose which wines to taste from the five appellations offered: Chablis, Saint-Bris, Irancy, Bourgognes and Crémants. The tasting is not a fixed lineup.

What time should I book, and how long does the whole thing take?

Sessions run at 9:30 a.m. or 2:00 p.m., both in English. The activity takes 90 minutes from start to finish, including the vineyard walk, winery tour and tasting.

Is this suitable if I have never tasted wine before?

Yes. The guide explains the wines and the estate as you go, and you taste at your own pace. The setting is friendly and informal, not a formal tasting class.
