The Experience

The tour starts in the vineyard itself. A guide walks you through eight grape varieties planted across the Haut-Armagnac terroir, explaining how each one contributes to the wines and Armagnac the estate produces. You'll learn about the family's conversion to biodynamic and permaculture methods—and encounter the Genodics technology that plays music to the vines, a practice the estate uses to enhance their growth. The walk moves through the private gardens, where the history and philosophy of the domain unfold as you move through the land.

From the vineyard, you move into the aging cellars to see where the Armagnac develops. The guide explains the distillation process and what makes Blanche Armagnac different: it does not age in barrels, a choice that preserves the wine's aromas and repositions Armagnac as part of wine culture rather than brandy tradition. This approach, introduced by Patrick de Montal in 1985, reflects the family's belief that excellence depends on the know-how of the winemaker and the quality of the grapes.

The tour closes with a commented tasting of seven wines—dry white, sweet, red and rosé—all grown and made on the estate. Each wine is paired with local products selected to highlight the Arton signature and the terroir.
