Step-by-step itinerary

Vineyard visits and wine tastings

  • Meet at Béziers tourist office
  • Drive 20 minutes to Puissalicon village
  • Explore Puissalicon village streets
  • Visit first wine estate and taste wines
  • Drive 15 minutes to Faugères village
  • Visit second wine estate and taste wines
  • Return 40 minutes to Béziers meeting point

The Experience

The tour starts at the Béziers tourist office and heads into the Languedoc countryside in an air-conditioned minivan. After a 20-minute drive, you arrive at Puissalicon, a village built in a circle around the remains of a 14th-century feudal castle. The first winery sits nearby, and you spend about 50 minutes there learning how the vines grow, what grape varieties the estate uses, and how the winemaking happens—then you taste the wines they've selected for you.

From there, a 15-minute drive through small roads takes you to Faugères, a village known for its shale terroir and its AOP (Protected Designation of Origin) designation. The second estate sits in this landscape, and the winemaker walks you through what makes their wines distinctive—the shale soil brings freshness to the wine even when summer temperatures climb. You taste a selection of their wines and have time to ask questions. The return drive to Béziers takes about 40 minutes.

Shared tours run on Wednesday and Friday with a fixed meeting point; private tours are available Monday, Tuesday and Saturday with pickup at your hotel or residence in and around Béziers. The guide speaks English and French. Groups stay between 2 and 8 people, and shared tours require a minimum of 4 participants—if the group doesn't fill, you'll be offered another date or a different experience instead.
