The experience
The day starts at 11am in central Marseille, where your English-speaking wine expert guide meets you and drives the group ninety minutes to Aix en Provence in a comfortable minivan. You then have an hour and a half on your own to lunch, wander the daily market, or sit with a drink in one of the shaded squares. The guide will be waiting when you're ready to move on.
In the afternoon, you drive to the Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire wine region at the foot of Sainte-Victoire Mountain, the limestone ridge Cézanne painted dozens of times. At two family-owned wineries, you'll visit the cellars, meet the winemakers, and learn how the local terroir shapes the grapes grown here. The guide teaches you how to taste wine like a professional, then you taste several AOP Côtes de Provence wines in all three colors (red, rosé and white) at each estate. You're back in Marseille around 5pm at the same meeting point.
