A 3.5-hour activity in Rovaniemi where you meet reindeer herders at their farm, take a 500-meter sledge ride, then drive your own snowmobile for an hour through Lapland's snowy forests. Winter clothes, a guide in English, and transfers from the city center are included. A valid driver's license (class B, readable in English) is required to operate the snowmobile. The experience

The day starts at a meeting point in central Rovaniemi, where you'll be fitted with full winter gear (overall, boots, gloves, balaclava and helmet) before a 20-minute drive to Reindeer Manor. There you meet the herders and their animals, take a 500-meter ride in a reindeer-pulled sledge, and hear directly from the people who manage the herds about how they preserve their way of life across generations. Warm juice and biscuits in the hut follow, a small comfort that matters when you're standing in the Arctic.

After the farm, you head to Santa Claus Village to begin the snowmobile portion. Your guide walks through the safety and driving instructions before you set out on a one-hour route through the snowy landscape. Halfway through, you stop to photograph the surroundings and, if you're traveling in pairs, swap who's at the controls. Two adults share one snowmobile. If your group has an odd number, one person rides as a passenger with another group member.

What do I need to bring to drive the snowmobile?

A valid driver's license (class B) that is readable in English. A provisional license or a photo of your license won't be accepted. If you don't have your physical license with you, you won't be able to drive and no refund is offered, though you can still join the sledge ride instead.

What happens if the weather is very cold?

Children cannot participate in the snowmobile tour if the outside temperature drops below −20°C, though the reindeer farm visit would still go ahead.

How much does the snowmobile damage liability cost?

The driver is responsible for any damage to the snowmobile with a personal self-liability of 950€ per person per snowmobile. You can purchase additional insurance on site for 15€, which reduces your liability to 150€. This insurance must be bought before the tour starts.
