You control the snowmobile through winter forest and open snow.

A two-hour snowmobile safari in the Arctic Circle area where you drive your own machine through local forests with a live guide in English. Thermal clothing, helmets and hotel pickup from selected hotels are included. You choose between sharing a snowmobile with one other person or driving solo. Children from age 4 ride in a sleigh pulled by the guide.

The experience

The guide meets you at the office to fit you into thermal gear (overall, boots, gloves, woollen socks, scarf and helmet), and walk through the basics of handling the snowmobile before you head out. You'll need a valid EU driving license (physical copy, Roman letters only) and be at least 18 years old to drive. The whole setup takes the pressure off: you show up, get outfitted and instructed, then ride.

Once you're on the snow, you drive through the forests around the Arctic Circle, stopping for photos where the light and the landscape line up. Two hours is long enough to feel the rhythm of the machine and the quiet of the winter forest without the commitment of a full day in the saddle. If you're traveling with children, they sit in a sleigh towed behind the guide's snowmobile, so the whole group moves together.

Hotel pickup and drop-off are included from selected hotels, though public transport options are available nearby if your accommodation isn't on the list. Pickup times can shift by up to 15 minutes depending on other participants, so plan to wait in the hotel reception area. The operator offers optional damage insurance for EUR 20 that reduces your liability from EUR 900 to EUR 200 per accident, which is worth considering if you're new to snowmobiling.
