The experience

You're picked up at your Rovaniemi hotel and driven to the starting point, where the guide fits you with winter gear and shows you how to handle the snowmobile before you set out. Two people ride each machine (one drives while the other sits behind), and you switch roles during the ride so both get time at the controls. The whole outing runs two hours from pickup to drop-off.

Partway through, the group stops in the wilderness for a break with hot drinks and biscuits, a moment to catch your breath and take in the quiet of the Arctic landscape. The actual riding time is roughly 1 to 1.5 hours, split between your turn driving and your turn as passenger. A valid driver's license is required to operate the snowmobile.

Children aged 4 to 14 ride in a sledge towed behind the guide's machine. If a child over 140 cm tall wants to sit as a passenger on a snowmobile instead, a full adult price applies, depending on availability. An adult must accompany any child on the safari.
