A 2-hour snowmobile safari in Rovaniemi takes you into the Arctic wilderness on marked trails through changing winter scenery. The experience

You arrive at Apukka Resort and get fitted with a thermal overall, thermal boots, woolen socks, mittens and balaclava: the gear stays on for the whole ride. A guide walks you through the snowmobile basics, then you head out onto the trails. The landscape shifts as you go: snow-covered forest gives way to open marshland, and the view changes month to month as winter deepens. You ride for about 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, covering 15–30 km depending on conditions and the pace of the group.

The trails are easy enough that no prior experience is needed, and the rhythm of the ride (the engine, the snow, the quiet around you) pulls you away from the usual noise. If you're traveling with a child ages 4–14, they sit in a sleigh towed behind the snowmobile instead of riding on the machine itself. Transfers run from Rovaniemi city center or Santa Claus Village to the resort and back, so you don't need to arrange transport.
