The experience

Five hours splits into two distinct parts, each using different terrain and equipment. Then comes the one-hour ride through the forests. The guide picks the route and stops at scenic spots for photos, so you're riding but not navigating.

After the snowmobile portion, you head to Vaatunkiköngäs to switch to snowshoes. The route crosses a wooden bridge and climbs a hill to a viewpoint overlooking Lapland's open landscape. The pace is set by the group, and the guide stays with you the whole way. Groups stay under eight people, which means shorter waits at the office and more attention from the guide on both the ride and the hike.

The guide speaks English, Spanish or French depending on your booking, and pickup from your accommodation is included. Children from age twelve can join. Bring layers under the thermal suit if you run cold. The gear covers most of it, but the ride exposes your face to wind.
