Step-by-step itinerary
Snowshoeing tour in Levi wilderness
- Depart Levi and drive to wilderness
- Put on snowshoes and hike winter landscapes
- Enjoy light lunch and hot drinks
- Drive back to Levi
The experience
Four hours in the Arctic wilderness means you leave town noise behind and trek at a pace that lets you actually notice the landscape. The drive out takes up to an hour as roads fade into open snow, then you put on snowshoes and move through quiet winter terrain (frozen lakes, forest paths, gentle slopes) with time to pause and look for reindeer, birds, and other animals moving through the snow. An expert guide leads the way and talks about local traditions and how the environment works in deep winter.
Mid-tour you stop for a hot lunch: a sandwich made from fresh, local ingredients and hot drinks to warm you from the inside. Your guide also brings professional photos from the day so you have images of the wilderness and yourself in it. All the gear stays with the operator (snowshoes, hiking poles, everything), so you arrive with just yourself and leave with the memory.
Temperatures can drop below –30°C, so thermal clothing rental for your whole stay is strongly suggested for both safety and comfort. The tour works best for anyone with at least moderate fitness. Toilets are limited and may not be available during the trek.
