The experience
The sled is yours to drive. You're not watching a demonstration or riding along. You're holding the reins and steering the team across the snow yourself. The group stays small by design: six sleds maximum, which means you actually get time with the handlers instead of moving through a queue. They'll show you how to work with the dogs, explain their training, and talk about why each dog works best with their own musher. It's the kind of detail that changes how you understand what you're doing out there.
After the 5 km run, you'll sit in a kota, a traditional Sámi tent, with something warm in your hands. Coffee, tea, or berry juice, plus gingerbread cookies and chocolates. The handlers are still there, and the conversation shifts from instruction to life: what it's like to live in the north, how the dogs spend their season, the rhythm of the work. This isn't a photo stop. It's a real pause in the morning.
Pickup happens from your accommodation if it's within 10 km of Rovaniemi, or you can meet directly at the office on Korkalonkatu 36. The whole experience runs 4 hours. An air-conditioned vehicle brings you to the start, and the guide speaks English or Spanish throughout.

Is this one for you?The sled run itself is 5 km across snow at an easy pace (no racing or extreme cold exposure), so it suits anyone comfortable sitting on a moving sled and holding reins for the duration. The real work here is the driving itself, not the fitness it demands.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 12 years); Infant (under 3): free.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What does it feel like to actually drive the husky sled yourself?
You hold the reins and steer the team across the snow for the full 5 km run. The handlers teach you how to work with the dogs before you start, so you understand what you're doing with the reins and how to read the team's movement. It's not a passive ride. You're in control of the sled the whole way.
How many people are in a group, and do you get time to talk with the handlers?
Groups stay at six sleds maximum, which is small enough that you actually have time to ask questions and chat with the handlers. They explain how the dogs are trained and why each one works best with their own musher, rather than rushing you through.
What happens after the sled run?
You sit in a traditional kota, a Sámi tent, and drink something warm: coffee, tea, or berry juice. Gingerbread cookies and chocolates come with it. The handlers are there too, so you can keep talking about life in Lapland and how the dogs work through the season.
Where does the pickup happen, and how long is the whole experience?
Pickup is included from your accommodation if it's within 10 km of Rovaniemi. Otherwise, you can meet at the office on Korkalonkatu 36 in the city center. The full experience runs 4 hours from start to finish.
