The experience

You arrive at the kennel to meet the huskies before anything else: energetic, friendly dogs that your guide introduces with stories about their lives and training. The guide walks you through safe sled driving, showing you how to handle the team and what to expect on the trail. If you're traveling with a partner or family, one person drives while the other rides as a passenger. The driver stays in that role for the whole ride, so you'll know your job before the sled moves.

The 7.5-kilometer sleigh ride itself lasts roughly 45 minutes, moving through silent snow-covered forests and open Arctic landscape. The sled glides without engine noise, and the only sound is the runners on snow and the dogs' breathing. Children ride in the same sled as adults, with a maximum of two adults and two children per sled, so families stay together.

After the ride, you return to the kennel for warm drinks and time by the fire, where the guide shares more stories about the huskies and the region. Pickup from your hotel is included, and the guide will message you the exact time beforehand. You can also drive directly to the Lapland Royal Adventures office on Maakuntakatu 31 if that suits your schedule better. A restaurant at the site serves meals at your own cost if you want to eat while you're there.
