The experience

Levi's winter activities center on two animals central to Lapland life: huskies and reindeer. You start with a 15-minute transfer from the pickup point deep into snowy forest, then receive a safety briefing before taking the reins yourself. You'll drive your own sled behind a team of huskies for around 2 kilometers through the landscape. This is not a passenger ride, but a hands-on experience where you control the sled. The dogs do the pulling. You steer and manage the pace.

After the husky run, you meet both the huskies and reindeer up close. Your guide explains their training and role in Sami culture while you photograph them and interact with the animals. The reindeer portion is a sleigh ride. You sit under warm blankets while they pull you across about 800 meters of snow. If you're cold at any point, a kota (traditional shelter) offers a place to warm up with hot drinks and cookies.

The activity suits families with children from age 2 onward, though it does involve physical exertion: you're steering a moving sled in winter conditions, so moderate fitness helps. The guide speaks English and manages both the husky and reindeer portions, so you're learning as you go rather than simply being transported.
