The experience
What does a husky actually do when it's not pulling a sled? You find out at the farm where these dogs live and work. The guide walks you through their training, their diet, how they're cared for through the season, and you get time to pet them and take photos. The huskies are bred and trained for this work, though the guide will remind you that animal behavior can be unpredictable, so listening to instructions matters for everyone's safety.
Then you head out into the forest. You can ride as a passenger in the sled, or if you want to try holding the reins yourself, the guide can teach you the basics of mushing. Either way, you're moving through snowy landscape pulled by a team of dogs: no engine, no noise except the runners on snow and the dogs' breathing. The ride covers either 2 km or 5 km depending on which option you book. Along the way you stop to take in the quiet, and the guide shares stories about Lapland and the dogs' role in its history.
You'll need to dress warmly. This is Arctic winter, and you're outside for most of the experience. Hot berry juice, coffee or tea and cookies warm you up during a break. Hotel pickup and drop-off around Levi town center are included, so you don't arrange transport yourself. Bring a camera. The light on snow and the dogs in motion make for the kind of photos that don't need filters.

Is this one for you?Book the 2 km ride if you want the core experience (meeting the dogs and a shorter forest run) in less time, or choose 5 km if you're comfortable spending longer in the sled and want a deeper run through the landscape. Either way, you're doing the same farm visit and getting the same guide. The distance is the main difference.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (2 to 12 years); Infant (under 2): free.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
Can I actually drive the sled, or do I just ride along?
Both options exist depending on which tour you book. Some departures let you try mushing the dogs yourself with the guide's instruction. Others are passenger rides. Check which option you're choosing at checkout, as the experience differs between them.
How cold is it, and what should I wear?
Levi in winter sits well below freezing, so dress in layers: thermal base layers, a heavy coat, insulated boots, a hat and gloves are essential. The operator recommends thermal outerwear. If you don't have it, you'll need to arrange it separately, as it's not provided with the tour.
What's the husky farm like, is it just a tourist stop, or do these dogs actually work?
The farm is a working operation where the huskies live and train year-round. The guide explains their training, diet and care, and you spend time with the dogs before the sled ride. It's not a sanctuary or a petting zoo. These are working animals, so the farm reflects how they actually live.
How long is the whole thing, and what's included in that time?
The full experience is about two and a half hours, which includes hotel pickup and drop-off, the farm visit, the safety briefing, the sled ride itself, and a warm drink break with cookies. The sled ride is one part of the day, not the whole thing.
