The experience

You arrive at The Viking Games ready to try something new, or to pick up archery again after years away. The session opens with a warm welcome and a walk through the equipment: how to hold the bow, where to stand, how to aim and release. Your instructor tailors the pace to where you're starting from, so whether you've never held a bow or you've shot before, you move through the fundamentals at a speed that builds confidence instead of rushing it.

Once the basics land, you step up to the range and start shooting at targets. The first arrows teach you the rhythm (the draw, the sight picture, the release), and with each shot the mechanics start to feel natural. Then the instructor introduces the games: accuracy tests, mini-competitions, friendly challenges designed to keep you engaged and show you how much your aim improves over the hour. You're not just aiming for the bullseye. You're competing, improving and feeling the satisfaction of a clean hit.

All necessary equipment is provided, and toilet facilities are on-site. The session runs one hour and suits any fitness level. Children are welcome from age 12, and service animals are allowed.
