The Experience
The eBikes do the climbing for you, which means you can focus on the landscape instead of the effort. You'll start in Winster, a former lead mining village, then cycle past Stanton Moor and its famous prehistoric stone circle. One of several ancient sites you'll pass on the route. The tour follows traffic-free cycle paths, country roads and quiet tracks, stopping at villages like Edensor, Baslow and Ashford-in-the-Water, each with its own church, bridges or traditional pubs. You'll ride through the grounds of Chatsworth House (the house itself stays off the itinerary, as it deserves a full day on its own) and down Longstone Edge into Beeley, where the approach itself is flagged as a particular highlight.
A guide or sat nav comes with your bike, along with panniers for your belongings, safety equipment and a detailed briefing before you set off. Free coffee waits at the meeting point. The 6 hours includes cycling between stops and time to pause at each one: on a bridge over the river in Monsal Dale, at a cake stall, or simply to take in a traditional Peak District village. Lunch can be bought separately at the pubs and cafes along the way, with prices ranging from £5 to £15, or you can bring your own.
Public transport runs near the starting point if you need it. The route is designed for all fitness levels, though you'll need at least moderate fitness for the day and must be 14 or older to ride.

Either way, the eBike motor means you can ride for six hours without the fitness demand of a regular bike tour.
