The experience
You get picked up from your Dahab hotel and driven 30 minutes to the Blue Hole, where you'll spend the first 3 hours in the water. The site is built around hard corals (Acropora, brain and star corals) that sit south of the lagoon and draw the fish most snorkelers come to see: triggerfish, jacks, unicornfish, parrotfish, angelfish, grouper and surgeonfish move through the reef in schools. The mask is provided. You bring your own fins or rent them separately.
After the Blue Hole, you return to the Jeep for a 40-minute drive to the 3 Pools, three natural pools with sandy bottoms ringed by massive corals and separated by shallow saddles. The coral towers here attract their own concentration of sea life. You snorkel this second site, then break at one of the nearby restaurants and cafés for lunch and drinks before the drive back to Dahab, arriving around 5 p.m. A live English-speaking guide leads the activity throughout the day.
