You’ll have your own private felucca for this overnight trip from Aswan—no crowds, just you and the river. Enjoy homemade Nubian meals, riverside campfires, and time to unwind as you watch daily life along the Nile drift by.
There’s nothing quite like drifting down the Nile on your own felucca. We set off from Aswan just as the sun started to soften—felt warm but not too hot, with that gentle river breeze you only get here. The crew, all local guys from a nearby Nubian village, greeted us with big smiles and sweet tea. I could hear birds calling out along the banks, and every so often a fisherman would wave as we passed by.
Lunch was cooked right in front of us—simple, fresh, mostly beans and flatbread, but honestly some of the best food I had in Egypt. Later, we stopped at a small riverside spot where a few farmers were tending their fields. Our guide, Mahmoud, explained how life here hasn’t changed much in decades. At dusk, we pulled up to shore for dinner and a campfire. The crew played drums and sang old songs; I even tried joining in (badly). Lying back on my mattress under the stars, listening to the water lap against the boat—can’t remember feeling more relaxed.
Yes! Kids are welcome—there’s space for prams or strollers on board and plenty of room to relax.
