The experience

Three days on a felucca means you pick up from your Aswan hotel at 1 p.m. on day one and sail north on the Nile with lunch and dinner on board, watching the sunset from the deck before sleeping on the boat. The second day is entirely yours to spend as you choose: more sailing, reading on your mattress, listening to the birds and wind, or watching peasants and daily life pass along the banks. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are prepared on board. On the final morning, breakfast comes first, then a short drive takes you to Kom Ombo Temple, dedicated to the gods Sobek and Haroeris, where your guide walks you through the site. From there it is a 60-kilometer drive north to Edfu to visit the Temple of Horus, one of the best-preserved temples on the Nile. The tour ends with a 120-kilometer transfer to Luxor.

The felucca is yours alone: no other passengers share the boat, the crew or the meals. Nubian food is prepared in front of you, and the crew can arrange singing and dancing on shore if you want it. All fees and taxes are included. Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or one additional language, and hotel pickup in Aswan is part of the package.
