The Experience

The first thing that hit me was the dry, warm air as we stepped out of the car near the Giza Plateau. Our guide, Ahmed, met us right in the hotel lobby—big smile, easygoing vibe—and before I knew it, we were weaving through Cairo’s morning traffic toward those famous pyramids. The city noise faded fast once we reached the edge of the desert. There’s something about seeing those ancient stones up close that makes you feel tiny and amazed at the same time.
