The Experience

The boat leaves from Marsa Alam marina after hotel pickup and a scenic drive to the coast. You'll board a spacious vessel equipped for comfort and safety, then sail out to Sataya Reef—also called Dolphin House Reef—where the water stays clear and the marine life is dense. A professional guide briefs you on snorkeling technique and safety before you enter the water, and snorkeling equipment is provided onboard. The reef itself is the draw: colorful coral gardens, schools of exotic fish, and the spinner dolphins that hunt and rest here. They move through the water fast and unpredictably, so sightings are not guaranteed, but the reef is a known hotspot for encounters.

You'll make two snorkeling stops during the day, both at the reef. Between them, the boat's sun deck is where you rest, dry off and eat. Lunch is an open buffet served onboard, with unlimited water, soft drinks, hot drinks and fresh seasonal fruit. The guide stays with the group throughout, pointing out marine life and answering questions. A waterproof camera or GoPro works well for capturing moments underwater, though the focus is on the experience itself rather than the footage.

The full day runs 10 hours from pickup to drop-off. Children and infants are welcome; small children can ride in a stroller to the marina, and infants sit on an adult's lap during the boat ride. The activity suits all fitness levels—snorkeling requires no prior experience, and you control how long you stay in the water at each stop. The guide speaks English, Italian or German depending on the group.
