You're picked up from your Hurghada hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle and driven to Luxor: roughly 280 kilometers south. The drive takes most of the morning, so you arrive at Luxor Temple on the east bank ready to walk the colonnades and pylons that mark the city's ceremonial center. From there, you cross the Nile to the west bank, where the Valley of the Kings holds the royal tombs carved into the rock.
