The experience

The tour starts with a 6:00 AM pickup from your Cairo hotel and a 4–5 hour drive south to Bahariya Oasis, where you'll rest and have refreshments before heading into the Black Desert. There you'll walk among the volcanic hills covered in black basalt and stop to photograph the shimmering quartz crystals scattered across the ground. By late afternoon you'll arrive at the White Desert, where wind and time have carved the chalk rock into shapes that look like nothing else on earth. This is where you'll spend the night in the desert camp.

Dinner and breakfast are included, as is the overnight stay. You wake early on day two to catch the desert sunrise, then make the return journey back through Bahariya Oasis and on to Cairo, arriving at your hotel by afternoon. The vehicle is a 4x4 built for off-road terrain, and your guide handles all navigation and stops. No hidden fees, no separate entry charges, no meals to arrange or pay for separately.
