The experience
You get picked up from your El Gouna hotel (the collection takes 10 to 20 minutes), and head to the motor park. There, before the ride starts, your guide walks you through the basics: how to operate the ATV, what to expect on the terrain, and what to do if something goes wrong. This training happens on-site, so you're not guessing once you're in the dunes. Then you ride.
The 45-kilometer route takes you deep into the Sahara, where the dunes shift and the valleys open up in ways the coastal strip doesn't show. You're driving through Red Sea Mountain terrain (rugged ground that an ATV is built for), and the guide leads the way, setting the pace. Partway through, you stop at a Bedouin camp. This isn't a photo stop. You actually visit the settlement, sit with the people who live there, and drink tea or shisha while the desert sits around you. Soft drinks are there too if you want them.
After the ride and the camp visit, you're driven back to your hotel in El Gouna. The whole thing (pickup, training, the 45 kilometers, the camp, drop-off) fits into three hours. Your guide speaks English, German, or Arabic depending on which option you book.
