The experience
You operate the buggy yourself through the rural landscape outside Punta Cana, starting with the coffee and cacao plantations that shape the region's agriculture. The route passes banana fields before reaching the Salado cenote: a natural sinkhole filled with cool freshwater that locals discovered centuries ago. You'll have time to swim and cool off in the cave pool before the ride continues to Macao Beach, one of Punta Cana's least crowded stretches of sand, where the waves and shoreline are the final stop.
The guide navigates the route and explains what you're passing through. A professional photographer travels with the group to capture photos at key moments. Hotel pickup and return transport are arranged, so you don't need to arrange your own way to the starting point. Buggies seat two people, though you can book a single-rider vehicle if you prefer to ride alone (at an additional cost). The pace is steady enough for families and all fitness levels, though the ride itself is the main event. This is not a tour where you sit and watch.
Cap Cana zone access requires an extra 40 USD per vehicle to cover transport costs if your hotel is in that area. Bring sunscreen, comfortable clothes, a swimsuit and towel for the cenote stop, and insect repellent for the countryside sections.
Is this one for you?The guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French and one more language, so you can follow the commentary in whichever language you prefer. Buggies seat two riders, making this a good fit for couples or friends who want to share the driving experience, though single-rider buggies are available if you'd rather ride alone.
