The experience
Four and a half hours gets you through both the ATV section and the horseback riding, with time for a meal and optional extras like the pool zip line or tropical garden. After pickup from your hotel or cruise port, you head to Country World Adventure Park for a briefing on the ATVs. The riding crosses different terrain (sand, dirt, rocky roads and riverbed), so you see how the land changes and pass through local villages where you can observe daily life. A short rest follows before you switch to horses and continue across farmland with views most visitors to Puerto Plata never reach.
The meal is a full home-cooked Dominican lunch with rice, beans, chicken, fried plantains, vegetables and salad, included at no extra cost. Professional guides speak English, Spanish, French and German, so language is not a barrier. Safety equipment comes with the activity. If you want to extend the day, the ranch also has a pool zip line and a tropical garden where you can learn about local plants and animals, though these are optional add-ons.
Depending on which option you choose at checkout, you can ride a single ATV or share a double ATV, and you can depart from Puerto Plata, or from Sosua or Cabarete on Tuesday and Friday. Riders must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license to operate an ATV solo. Younger passengers can ride as passengers. The maximum weight for horseback riding is 260 pounds, and the maximum total weight on an ATV is 350 pounds for one or two riders combined.
