The Classic Copenhagen red route hits Nyhavn's painted townhouses and the entrance to Tivoli Gardens; the green route heads out toward the Carlsberg brewery side of the city; the purple one covers the Colorful Copenhagen stretch. You get headphones with your ticket, so the audio guide plays as the bus moves, feeding you facts and stories about what's passing outside the window instead of you having to read a map or ask someone.

Nyhavn is usually the first place people get off: the harbor's loud and crowded and photogenic, and you can spend twenty minutes or two hours there depending on whether you just want the picture or you want to sit at one of the waterfront restaurants. From there, most people either stay on for Tivoli Gardens (the entrance is a few stops down) or jump off earlier to walk toward Amalienborg Palace or Rosenborg Castle.
