A private one-hour windsurfing lesson at Mackenzie Beach in Larnaca, taught by an experienced instructor who adapts the pace to your confidence and the day's wind. You learn on a sandy beach with easy water access, starting with equipment and technique on shore, then practicing balance, sail control and steering in the water. The lesson includes windsurfing gear, impact vest, helmet and wetsuit if needed, plus photos when conditions allow. No experience required, but you should be able to swim and feel comfortable in the water. Children from age 7 are welcome.

The experience

One hour is enough to go from beach briefing to sailing. Your instructor walks you through the equipment, wind direction, body position and how to control the sail before you enter the water. Then you practice standing on the board, holding and steering the sail, and sailing in both directions. Mackenzie Beach works for beginners because the water entry is gradual, the sand is firm, and morning conditions are often light and manageable.

The lesson is private, so your instructor adjusts the pace to how you're feeling and what the wind is doing that day. You're not following a group schedule or waiting for others to catch up. The school provides the board, sail, impact vest, helmet and wetsuit if you need one, so you arrive with just a swimsuit and towel. Photos are included when the conditions allow, giving you something to remember your first windsurfing session in Cyprus.

Mackenzie Beach sits close to Larnaca city centre and the airport, with cafés nearby and a relaxed holiday atmosphere. Public transportation reaches the beach, and all areas are wheelchair accessible. The lesson suits all fitness levels. Children from age 7 can join. Your instructor speaks English, French, German or Greek.
